IDRO
Crènch Outdoor Rock Climbing Gym
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
A complex, articulated limestone rocky spur, "discovered" by Brescia-born Mario Ferretti, a skilful climber with a long history in mountaineering. Ferretti spends his weekends and summer holidays in Idro, and he spent most of 2005 clearning and equipping this new site with 10 mm bolts, "starting right from the bottom". Due to its particular morphology and non-extreme ruote, this site is ideal for novices or beginners.
South-west exposure allows climbing all year round. Best to avoid the middle of the day in summer.
Excellent signs and notice board with a basic map are provided by Idro's Group Sentieri Attrezzati (Equipped Routes Group). Altitude 450 m.
ACCESS
At Pieve di Idro, turn off the SS 237 onto the SP 58 and follow the signs to Treviso, Capovalle and Vesta. Just past Lemprato, where the road crosses the artificial canal supplying the Carpeneda hydroelettric plant, turn le ft towards Crone and Vesta. Drive through Crone. About 30 m after bowling club there is plenty of parking space on the right at the start of Via Preonde. Follow the made-up road, which leads to a marked path to the climbing area (15 minutes). It is possible to drive up to the start of the path, but this is not recommended as there is a very little room to parking.
